Jackson, Kentucky, located in the poorest section of the US, is the home of The Happy Church. Pastor Mike Tabor chose that name when he began the church, "because life in Jackson is so hopeless." Much of Breathitt County has experienced the hardships that have come since the closing of the coal mines.

Many have been on welfare for five generations. At the same time as Mike and Connie Tabor are working hard to bring people to freedom in Christ, they're striving to bring hope back to the disadvantaged men and women, boys and girls of the area.

grace in ACTION usa was created to help bring economic development in the Jackson area. In November, 2005, The Happy Ship 'N More opened its doors for business. This little shop is the site of a Gourmet Coffee Shop, A FedEx Depot, A T-Shirt Shop and an eBay sales business. Other enterprises are on the drawing board as those who want to work are trained.

GiA has provided five computers for use in tutoring and further education and is seeking men and women who will volunteer to train in their fields of expertise and experience.

If there are any poor in your towns.... do not be hard-hearted or tight-fisted toward them. Instead, be generous and lend them whatever they need. ...Give freely without begrudging it, and the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.
